The Humanity That Blossomed
Through Struggle - Suresh and Sova's Gift
Dr. Subrata Mukherjee understands the hardships faced by underprivileged communities. Born to refugee parents who fled Bangladesh during partition, he overcame poverty through education and entrepreneurship. Dr. Mukherjee built Sova Solar into a leading renewable energy company. Through the Suresh Sova Foundation, he now endeavors to uplift communities still grappling with scarcity and lack of access.
Suresh’s childhood ended too soon when his father passed away, forcing the 14-year-old to take on the mantle of providing for his family. The farming life was unrelenting, yet Suresh persevered with courage beyond his years.
When partition tore through the land, this life was uprooted. Holding his wife and children close, Suresh had no choice but to flee the only home he had known. The journey to India was fraught with unimaginable hardship, but Suresh sheltered his family with unwavering devotion.
Arriving as refugees, the struggle continued. But where others saw bleakness, Suresh saw opportunity to rebuild. His grit led him to become a deed writer, providing for his family when all seemed lost.
Sova too was forced to abandon everything when partition ravaged her village. Clutching her few belongings, she undertook the painful passage to India with astonishing resilience.
In this foreign land, Sova turned mud and straw into a home. She sustained her children through meager means, never losing her warmth. Even as hunger gnawed, Sova shared her last morsels with those in greater need – her compassion knew no bounds.
Together, Suresh and Sova weathered torrential storms life threw their way. And from the ashes, they nurtured a family anchored in devotion, courage and generosity. Their spirit of selflessness, even in the darkest hours, lit a flame inside young Subrata’s heart that still burns bright today.
